Tower Leasing

Tower LeasingMBC members sometimes have a need to place wireless broadband devices near MBC facilities or to provide expanded coverage of unserved areas with wireless broadband equipment. MBC will plan, design, permit, build, operate, and maintain open-access communication towers in Southern Virginia for the benefit of its members. These towers are designed to support the colocation needs of wireless broadband providers and can be used for wireless Internet service, microwave backhaul, emergency communications, and cellular companies.

MBC offers monthly rental of tower space for members. Services include:

  • Monthly lease for tower attachments (single attachments or full RAD center)
  • Ground lease for placing a member’s cabinet or communications hut
  • Colocation of equipment in MBC owned cabinet or node facility (where available)
  • Fiber lateral with Ethernet/TDM transport services from tower back to MBC node facility

Currently, MBC has the following tower sites available for colocation (as of November 1, 2010):

  • Chatham, Virginia
  • Charlotte County (two sites)
  • Appomattox, Virginia
  • Lawrenceville, Virginia

MBC has an additional 20 new tower sites in various stages of analysis.

MBC will update tower availability as additional sites are developed for this service.
