Dark Fiber

Depending on MBC member needs, there are instances where dark fiber is the preferred medium for connectivity through the MBC network. All MBC-owned fiber is SMF-28E and is predominately underground construction. MBC offers several options for dark fiber:

Long-haul Dark Fiber

• Available on MBC-owned fiber routes in Southern Virginia
• Annual lease (minimum 5-year term) or 15-year IRU available
• Node-to-node fiber routes available; mid-span or access-point splicing between nodes not allowed
• Minimum lease or IRU purchase is 20 miles
• Discounts available for full ring purchases
• 2-strand minimum, 6-strand maximum
• Colocation for amplification/regeneration available

Metro Dark Fiber

• Annual lease (minimum 5-year term); no IRUs available
• Route and access/splice points negotiable with MBC
